TIMELINE OF RELATIONS
This thread represents the roleplay element of the campaign which is being pieced together. It will be updated frequently after all engagements.
September 18, 1991
Despite tensions having arisen in previous months over the joint US-ROK military exercise Team Spirit, talks have continued for the two Koreas to join the United Nations as a single member. North Korea holds out on talks, but by September 18th, both nations gain membership to the United Nations, albeit as independent nations.
December 13, 1991
Relations between the two states have never been better, both DPRK and ROK sign “The Agreement on Reconciliation, Non-Aggression, Exchange and Cooperation.” Both Koreas come very close to accepting each other’s existence.
December 18, 1991
ROK President Roh Tae-Woo announces that all American nuclear armaments have been removed from ROK territory. The DPRK accepts the statement, however is unwilling to remove its spies from nuclear installations in the ROK.
March 14, 1992
North Korea and South Korea conclude an agreement to establish a the South-North Joint Nuclear Control Commission (JNCC) as an implementing mechanism of the Joint Denuclearization Declaration (JDD) and conduct inspections of nuclear facilities in early-June 1992.
May 5, 1992
The 7th high-level talks between the two Koreas are held in Seoul. Around 90 people of the DPRK delegation arrives at Seoul. The DPRK foreign minister takes the opportunity to publicly denounce the ROK for holding nuclear material capable of being used in military-grade weapons within civilian installations. The ROK denies these claims.

Alarmed at the prospect of nuclear weapons in South Korea, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) finally takes a stance and announces its support for the DPRK and announces plans for a joint military exercise with North Korea in the coming weeks.
June 2, 1992
DPRK arrests an unnamed UN weapons inspector, causing outrage in Seoul. US President, George H. Bush demands the release of the weapons inspector, or sanctions will be put in place against the DPRK.
June 15, 1992
In retaliation, the DPRK threatens to release evidence of nuclear weapons in ROK territory. Washington DC begins secret talks with Pyongyang to resolve the issue in a peaceful manner.
June 17, 1992
The talks between the US and DPRK are leaked. It is evident Pyongyang holds the upper hand in negotiations, demanding that all nuclear armaments be removed from ROK territory before the release of the UN inspector. US diplomats’ hands are tied.
